January Ushers:

The USHERS are asked to be there every Sunday in your month. You are asked to be at the Church 1/2 hour prior to the service to hand out bulletins and usher people to their pews. Please also pick up the bulletins and other papers left in the pews and straighten the hymnals after the service. The chairman is to notify the members of his group of ushers prior to the first of the month

January Greeters: Dave Meinders & Christy Baxter
You are asked to be at the church 1/2 hour prior to Worship Services on Sundays to greet people as they enter the church by introducing yourself and giving them a handshake. Also encourage the visitors to sign the guest book.

January Communion Committee: Christy Baxter
You are in charge of preparing items for the Communion distribution on the 1st Sunday of the month and for traditional Communion distribution the 3rd Sunday of the month. You are also in charge of cleaning up following, including the cleaning of the Altar Cloth. Instructions are on the counter in the little room south of the Altar area.

Please be at the church by 8:30 a.m., robed and upstairs not later than 8:30 a.m. See Ken Meyer for instructions as to which candles to light. On Communion Sunday (1st & 3rd of month) you are asked to assist church board members in the giving of the communion. If you are unable to Acolyte, you will need to find your own replacement. Please HANG the robe up neatly after services.

January Cheer Committee: Bob & Nancy Corporon
Pastor will contact you as to whom to visit. The flower bowls, cards, and other materials are in the cupboard in the kitchen (floor cupboard in the island). If the flower bowls are used up, contact Nancy Corporon and she will re-supply the cabinet. This committee should also send cards to members of the congregation who had relatives pass away if you know of the occurrence.

St. Peter and St. Paul will be holding a joint council meeting on January 9th at 5:30P at St. Peter.

For those of  you that have information for the annual meetings for both St. Peter and St. Paul, I need that information no later than Saturday, January 12 for your information to be in the hadnbook. Thank you, Christy

Council discussed a policy for deciding if  Church
will be held due to inclement weather. On days with weather is an ssue, the president of the council will contact and discuss the weather with the pastor, then with St. Paul's president. If cancelled, the announcement will be aired on KIMT-TV.

The church council would like to thank those who have generously offered to serve our congregation on the call committee. Those members are: Mike Flatness, Ken Meyer, Matthew Fjone, Collin Witte, Mike Echelberger, Jenn Butler, Josie Baxter, Jo Thomas, Sarah Kobliska and Mary Etta Miller. Pastor Steve Brackett from the Northeastern Iowa Synod will be meeting with this newly formed call committee, along with church council members on January 9, 2019 at 5:30. This will be the kick-off to the call process. He'll be giving assistance to getting the process started, which will begin with analyzing the data from our recent congregational survey.

Fellowship games will meet on the second Wednesday, January 9th and on the fourth Wednesday, January 23rd. If attending start time is at 7P at the Middle School in the big gym in Rockwell.

2019 Scholarship Applications will be available on the bulletin board in the Narthex or online at http://www.stpeterrockwell.org/legacy. All applications need to be sent to the church by January 31, 2019.

The Franklin County Food Bank at Zion St. John in Sheffield on the first and third Thursdays of the Month at 4P: The moblie site will become a permanent site, thanks to sponsorship by Jaspersen Insurance. Food from both St. Paul and St. Peter, along with the pork, may be brought once, or twice, a month. Thank you to Bill and Mary Ellen Nelsen who will spear head seeing that the food is delivered. They will also be asking for volunteers to help out.

The Church Secretary is in the office on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 4 and 6. If you need anything please call her cell # 641-430-1041. Articles for the February Newsletter are due by Friday, January 18th.

St. Peter News


  • Annual Church Congregational meeting will be Sunday, January 20th after church service. Three council members' terms are up.  Janelle Nuehring and Ruthann Murphy's second terms are ending. Todd Liekweg's term is also ending, but he has offered to run again. We are in need of 2 new members. If anyone is interested in running for council, please see one of our council membrs! Thanks.
  • Our Church volunteers with bingo at the local nursing home. We furnish the prizes plus 4 (four) dozen homemade cookies. If you would like to donate cookies, please sign your name and the amount of cookies you are furnishing on the signup sheet found on the bulletin board. Louise Patterson will call you as a reminder of the date. We are also in need of jewelry (necklaces that can be put over the head) for those who are on restricted diets and small stuffed animals. Thanks for volunteering.

  • St. Peter Lutheran Church has made a leap into the next century. We now have a WEBSITE thanks to one of our members, Cheryl Flatness. The new website is www.stpeterrockwell.org.   • Members are reminded that nothing is to be taken from the Church without permission from the Pastor, Church Council Chairman, or Secretary. Proper procedures for checking them out must be taken. Kitchen items must be checked out and in by the WELCA Kitchen Committee.
  • If you wish to Reserve the Parish Hall and/or Church, please contact one of these people: the Church Secretary, Christy Baxter or Pastor Rhea Evanson. The Reservation then needs to be placed on the Church Calendar located in the Parish Hall hallway. The Church Calendar is only to be used for items pertaining the Church.
